Dear Church Family,
We are living in uncertain times. Circumstances come about that no one could anticipate or even contemplate. However, as Christians we know two things: God is in control and all things work for good (Heb. 2:8; Rom. 8:28). Further, the Lord himself guided us not to worry but to trust in him (Matt. 6:27). Having said that, we recognize there are real concerns that we as a congregation have to address during this time. The elders have carefully considered the situation and met to figure out how we should handle the current challenges.
In light of Governor Kemp’s order that bans gatherings of 10 or more people in an effort to curb the spread of COVID-19, we will cease meeting in person on Sundays and will continue to suspend all other church activities. Instead, we will begin live-streaming our Sunday worship service so our members at Calhoun and the community can watch them at home online. Beginning this Sunday, we will live-stream a short devotional service at 9:30 each Sunday until the pandemic declines. Adrian will lead a few songs, Jon will deliver a devotional message, and the elders will lead prayers and lead the observance of the Lord’s Supper.
If you are a member of Facebook, you can join them in these acts of worship online from home in real time by going here and scrolling down until you see the video titled “Worship Live” with Sunday’s date. Click on the video and you will be able to join the worship from your home.

We have self-contained, pre-prepared Lord’s Supper elements that you can pick up at the building before Sunday or we would be happy to deliver them to you. Jon will be at the building during the day throughout the week. Call him at 864-431-5365 if you would like to come to the building and pick up communion packages to take to your home and he’ll let you into the building. Jon, the elders, and William are also willing to deliver the communion packets to your home if you call them and let them know.
We will monitor this on a weekly basis and get back to our normal schedule and activities as soon as we feel it is warranted.
Unfortunately, we have also considered it necessary to cancel the mission trip to Honduras this year. This is very disappointing but the elders felt the risk to the folks in Honduras and our members was just too great. We have every intention of trying again next year.
We as shepherds have tried to balance what we felt like are God’s expectations with the health concerns of our members and our community. Please know we love and care for all of you and are at your service. If there are any questions or concerns, please reach out.
